"POW!!"

Gomu-gomu no!!! Lol. Got Patrick & Mikko, my friends from church, to be
my models for the tagline "Words Could Hurt." :)
Kaaameeeeeee- haaaaaaameeeeeeeee-WAAAVVEEE!! Words are so powerful I could probably describe them as kame-hame-waves that come out of our mouths. They make that much impact. When I was a kid my Mom would always tell me “Oh, be careful with your words..’di mo na ‘yan mababalik pag sinabi mo na,” That statement really stuck to my mind and I still remember it today (See? The power of words! They’re stickier than mighty bond!). She said words can either make or break a person, they can affect others for the rest of their lives so we have to be careful not to go with the “break” part. Our words’ goals should always be to build others up. Yep, even if it’s in a way of criticizing them (positive criticism, that is..constructive ones). Words are powerfully creative, too. As I said earlier, it builds, it creates. It can’t only be used for building others up, we could also use it to build ourselves because the words we say eventually become who we are. I myself am a firm believer of “declarations” and I am convinced that when I say encouraging words to myself, those words will most likely motivate me to do better. Plus, it somehow becomes a way for me to take action :)

There's this verse in the Bible that I always remember esp. when I hear others cursing/saying bad words. These explain why we should be very careful with our words. It says, "I tell you, on the day of judgement people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." (Matt. 12:36-37) I never curse because I am fully aware that I am responsible for every word I say and that someday I will be facing God. I don't want Him to be disappointed at me because I used the tongue He gave me to say such awful words. God created words not for us to use them to cuss. And another reason: my Mom did NOT teach me how to say bad words :) They're not called bad words for nothing. It's because they are bad.
It's not only verbal words that have that much power, the written ones do too, especially in this generation that we are in today. These, no matter how small, can affect someone or something so much. Just see how written words play a part in the novels that we read. We even cry because of how beautifully written they are! *cough, Paper Towns, cough* In the text messages that we send and receive, and even in the world of social media. Sometimes cyber wars happen just because of a single word that someone posts against something. Those are just examples that words are still full of impact even when they are not said verbally.

It seems to me that we think of words more as weapons but we seldom realize their use as shields, too. I think it’s because at times, our words protect or defend us. Like when we use them to pretend and hide our true emotions. Sometimes words make it hard for us to really know what one means because it serves as a camouflage of the real feelings. I guess this is also where the saying “Actions speak louder than words” applies. Words are not always as accurate as actions. It’s true, isn’t it? What someone says isn’t always the truth. Words can be very deceitful and it can shape-shift.

In conclusion, I say that the "POW" (power of words) really is great but it could also be very crucial. We shouldn’t let words take control of us for we should be the ones controlling it :)

#Multimedia Been Trending For n Years!

You must have been living under a rock if you are not a multimedia user! :o

Are you living like Patrick Star? Or the exact
opposite?

Multimedia is obviously a huge trend right now and more people are becoming regular users of it every single day. Why, you ask? It’s new, fast, and convenient. We all love getting into things that are new and we like what is instant and easy. Zoom!

It is very popular because it sure does aid us in our daily tasks at school, at work, and even at home. Yep. There’s probably multimedia wherever you turn your head to. It has caused a lot of things to improve and has made our tasks lighter. Some examples are cellphones, projectors, moodle, and…well, there’s a whole lot more!

Yeah, maybe I am the type who likes to express a lot. Hehe
Moreover, it is an expression. It serves as an outlet of people’s thoughts, feelings, and anything else that they want to share. Multimedia, especially the internet, allows everyone to speak freely, just saying whatever they want to. Like literally, whatever they want. Some people use it to praise or even criticize someone or something, some just use it for fun.

It took expressing oneself to a whole new level and it easily allows one to tell stories or maybe just snippets of stories.

Update your status on Facebook, add “feeling annoyed” to it. Share a love song from YouTube and tag the person you like (or not, haha). Tweet about your new pair of shoes! #HappyKid. Upload an old photo of you and your siblings on Instagram #tbt #throwback #ThrowBackThursday :) Blog about your crazy experiences in a summer travel week!

It simply gives an opportunity to speak for those who do not really talk much in person and it does the same with those who speak a LOT in person, allowing their talkativeness to flourish even more. I do not really know if that’s a good thing though. :))

An avatar of myself that I made on an
app called FaceQ from Zander's
phone last week. I tried to make it
"look" like me but..yeah, I have
always thought of dyeing my hair
red, so there =)) just because.

Through multimedia, you can change the way you want yourself to be seen by others. You can actually be a different person online if you choose to, which I personally find really creepy. *Imagine creating avatars that aren’t really close to who you are, all the posers, posting photos that are “scripted” and are products of 99% editing and 1% reality..we might not notice but it’s slowly eating up our real personas, just pure creepy. But anyway, that’s a different story.* A lot of people seem to like that better than the real world though. It clicks because it helps its users escape reality even just for a brief moment. It kills time (sometimes kills more than it should) and sometimes it becomes a hobby habit hobby. People can find a new community wherein they may feel that they actually “belong” for once.

Another thing is that it gives life and more meaning to communication because it makes its range wider. One can connect to old friends, like how I found my kindergarten teachers on Facebook! Haha. And we can also make new friends through it. Somehow, it strengthens our connection with other people. It binds us together. It’s what keeps OFWs in touch with their families and what keeps long distance relationships going. Well, it plays a huge part in a lot of people’s relationships :)

I don’t know what more to say..I guess people are very fond of using multimedia not because they just want to feel like they’re in but also because it seems “normal” to our generation already. It's already part of our lives. I wonder if multimedia will ever stop trending...hm?
