Sprite Sprite Sprite

Last
time, I did a review about some coke advertisements and this Friday, I am doing
SPRITE! Their catch phrase for the past commercials has been “Magpakatotoo ka!”
and their TVC is actually one of my favorites. Watch here!
The setting is a violin class
where there are four students and one pretty instructor. The teacher comes in
and the students were asked about how much skills they got when it comes to
playing the violin. Of course, all of them wanted to do great to impress the
beautiful teacher. The first three guys played like real pros but the fourth
guy, after drinking his Sprite, played like a real newbie. The three guys
thought that because they did well, they’d have a bigger favor with her. But
the Sprite guy ended up spending more time to practice with the instructor
because apparently, he was the one who needed more training. “Magpakatotoo ka,”
right? :)
Besides
having a good moral lesson, I personally think that the TVC is funny. I started
learning how to play the violin last summer and I think the sound that the
Sprite guy made is practically what a beginner like me makes haha! In terms of
technicality, the commercial used a minimal number of actors and it had one
venue only. It was also thematic or consistent since the main character was
wearing green and his violin was green, too.
I
therefore conclude that this TVC is genius. Thumbs up!
Here's another sprite commercial entitled
“#KlaroAngDiskarte.” We actually saw the making of this one because it was filmed
at our school. I wasn't able to take photos, though, because it wasn't allowed.
When I first watched it I was like, "What? ‘Yun na ‘yon?!" Not that I was
disappointed with the output but because I didn't think that it would be so
much simpler than how I imagined it to be. During the set, there were so many
props and the production team made the whole building look like it was a
different school, like it was really ‘S University.’ There were tarpaulins
hanging on the walls, lamp posts along the pathway, and booths complete with
more props scattered all over the lobby. In addition to all those, there were
tons of huge lights and lots of extras wearing cool-looking clothes walking
around behind Kit Thompson (who was stunning, by the way) and the pretty girl
but really..all of those were barely seen in the commercial! It's funny how so
much preparation was made but how simple it all looked in the final output.

I thought Kit drank so much Sprite already because there were a couple of takes,
but it turns out they put water inside the sprite bottles instead of the real
soda. We saw the sprite and water bottles all laid out on a table :)
And
there were these tents scattered out in the school field. Not just ordinary
tents but air-conditioned tents. Didn’t think that could be possible lol. It’s
probably like that for every taping but please bear with my innocence because
it was my first time seeing a real taping haha!

All in all, even though all the stuff
we saw in real life wasn't shown on TV, I still think that sprite kept its trademark
and standard. They still made a good and funny TVC that featured "pagpapakatotoo" and
confidence just like the one before. The difference between the first TVC and
this one is that there were more actors and actresses.
